This means the products you are getting are made in compliance with the 10 Principles of Fair Trade, which covers human and labour rights, as well as the buying and management processes that enable this. The baskets are already made by more than 700 artisans and sold in about 30 countries. MIFUKO MEANS POCKET The word mifuko means pocket in Swahili. We make sure that everyone gets something in their pocket. Mifuko´s partner workshops and self-help groups employ many underprivileged, such as slum youth and people with disabilities or economically disadvantaged rural backgrounds. Our products bring joy and happiness to both their makers in Kenya and their users around the globe. MIFUKO TRUST Mifuko is founder of a charity association Mifuko Trust which aims to bring everyday life-enhancing improvements to rural women: an area where clean water is a luxury and there is no electricity. In just 8 years, Mifuko Trust has built dry toilets, bought rainwater tanks and donated solar lights to the artisan women’s communities in the area.
