Bringing the World Indigenous Business Forum to Rotorua in October 2018! Te Ohu Whai Ao (TOWA) Māori Indigenous Business Development Trust is an incorporated Charitable Trust established in 2017 by a collective of Māori business leaders with diverse experience, backgrounds and global networks. TOWA connects Māori to a global community of indigenous people in business who share a common commitment to; - Developing global indigenous business, trade and development; - Networking and collaborating to lift economic development in indigenous communities; - Ensuring indigenous culture and language is respected in the way in which indigenous business develops; and, - Building a sustainable future that advances Māori interests nationally and internationally. In addition, TOWA will be a permanent organisation that will promote and support Indigenous-to-Indigenous trade and development similar to groups like the New Zealand United States Council or the New Zealand China Trade Association. TOWA aspire to become a sustainable charitable trust within the next 24 months by investing any profits generated into a lean operating model which invests profits generated into developing and growing Māori business locally and internationally, with a focus on global indigenous partnerships and scholarships for youth and women as key outcomes of the 2018 WIBF event.
