Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority (RWSA) is an independent public agency and a wholesale provider of clean, safe, high-quality drinking water serving the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County Service Authority’s over 120,000 customers. RWSA ensures adequate water supply for now and in the future while protecting the natural environment. RWSA then treats the wastewater so that its resources are safely returned to the environment in the form of clean water to the rivers for vibrant aquatic life, nutrients to the soil for plant growth, and green energy. Drinking water is distributed throughout the community by ACSA, Charlottesville Public Utilities, or by individual property owners’ wells.
