About Us: Vox Culture is a Houston-based advocacy network, whose mission is, “to connect our Houston community to social causes in creative ways.” Through the use of various art forms, collaborations with artists and bringing everyday people together, it seeks to address numerous forms of poverty and injustice that affect the city and the world by applying creative solutions through educational, awareness, and fundraising events and projects. Trending social causes are selected annually by a committee of Vox Culture volunteers, upon which select organizations are chosen for partnership to receive services. Specific Causes: Environment, Racism, Refugees, Education, Domestic Violence, Substance Abuse, Hunger and Thirst, Immigration, Homelessness, Human Trafficking, Economic Disparity. Our Network: The Causes – charitable organizations and institutions that fight against poverty and injustice The Creatives – artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, "professionals by day, creatives by night" The Catalysts – core team, volunteers, businesses and donors Our Values: CONNECT: We value relationships and believe in collaborating to make a net impact. EMPOWER: We seek to empower people by recognizing their talents and individual stories. AMPLIFY: We strengthen the voice of individuals and groups that go unheard. Our Story: In 2007, founder Ted Law, attended a leadership conference where he met a small group of passionate people who desired to put humanity back into the community. Their vision was to share stories of struggle, compassion and triumph through creative expressions such as art, music and dance. In these initial discussions the idea of culture hubs came about. The group chose the word "Vox", which is the Latin word for “Voice”, because they wanted to be a voice for those unheard and to advocate for the marginalized. “Vox” initiatives have now been started in Sacramento, Los Angeles, England, South America, & more are emerging. It’s becoming a global effort.
