crowdfunding.cu.eduProject Overview The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon® is a collegiate competition that prepares the next generation of building professionals to design and build high-performance, low-carbon buildings powered by renewables. The Build Challenge is a two-year design-build competition which challenges students to build a net-zero energy building contests that assesses the home's performance, resilience, and occupant comfort. Our Team Over the next two years we will design and build a net-zero energy home in our local community. We have partnered with Flatirons Habitat for Humanity and the city of Boulder Housing and Human Services department to build a highly efficient and resilient home for an affordable housing community in north Boulder. This home will be on eof the first homes built in the Ponderosa Stabilization Project in the summer of 2022. During this journey, our goal is to design and build the model single family home that can be replicated not only for the remainder of the Ponderosa community, but also for the broader affordable housing market. We intend to demonstrate that building green can also be affordable for the broader Denver-metro area. Why donate? For us to achieve our goal of building and publicizing the home, we need your help. By making financial or in-kind donations to our team, you can help make this project become a reality. Donating to this project not only helps a family-in-need find a new home, but also help us develop and promote a higher standard of affordable housing to the broader Denver-metro area. Any such donation to this cause is tax deductible.
