The Derby Police Department provides local police services to the City of Derby. Derby Connecticut is located in the lower Naugatuck Valley area of southern Connecticut at the confluence of the Housatonic and Naugatuck Rivers. Derby was founded in 1675 and has had law enforcement in one form or another since the early 1800's. Since the City of Derby came into corporate existence by legislative mandate January 1, 1894, there has been a steady increase in the duties, membership and efficiency of the police department. Today the department provides modern and professional law enforcement services to the community.
