Founded in 2020, Elimin8Hate (E8) is the advocacy arm of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF) formed in response to the anti-Asian racism and related hate incidents on the community during the pandemic. Elimin8Hate strives for racial equity and an inclusive society for all Asian Canadians. We work to interrupt, dismantle and eliminate anti-Asian racism at the individual, institutional and systemic level by harnessing the power of arts, film and media. E8 provides anti-Asian racism learning opportunities, and creates safe, inclusive ways for impacted community members and allies to participate in initiatives aimed at supporting systemic change for an equitable society. We EDUCATE by raising awareness of anti-Asian sentiment and the historical, persistent and systemic issues. We EMPOWER people to disrupt the status quo and find their voice to influence change. We ELIMINATE anti-Asian racism through advocating for social change and inclusive opportunities. Educate. Empower. Eliminate.
