Starting in 1996 as Farleigh Hospice’s own lottery, Local Hospice Lottery was developed in 2007 to enable other hospices to benefit from our established weekly draw. Fast forward to today and Local Hospice Lottery is the country’s leading lottery for hospices and has raised in excess of £37,000,000 for hospice care up and down the country. It’s about strength in numbers and through 28 hospices working together and sharing one prize fund and one set of administration and management costs, we can maximise marketing opportunities and ensure our partner hospices receive more income than they would from running their own lottery. In fact, in 2021, £10.6 million was raised from tickets purchased by players supporting all participating hospices, with 3% spent on prizes, 12% spent on administration and management and 18% reinvested to recruit new lottery players. The remaining 67% was given to hospice care – an amazing total of £7.14 million.
