Kevin Halfhill Art+Apparel
www.kevinhalfhill.comMy work is always evolving, but I focus on three primary styles: geometric portraiture, abstract landscapes, and minimalist dioramas. I try to tell a story through all of my work; each series differs in subject and motif, but they all share a common purpose: to externalize a sentiment. To that end, each piece seeks to both embody and inspire a specific emotional landscape for the viewer. I believe it is important for all of us to keep in mind that creativity comes in many forms. It seems all-too-common today, at least in my experience, that people often confuse creativity with artistic inclination. This is a false assumption; it isn’t so much about art as it is about artistic expression. Lawyers, doctors, and accountants are just as creative as artists and musicians—not visually creative, but in their own way. It is critical to nurture our creative efforts in whatever we do because imagination is such a vital part of being human. Creativity is a primary component of our individuality, and therefore largely contributes to our success in living a fulfilling life. For me personally, art is about much more than just making pretty things or having fun; it’s about making a statement. Art allows us to express and influence in ways that words cannot—photography, visual art, and music are all formidable instruments at our disposal in our collective quest to better The World. Visual arts are a potent way of communicating beyond language and reason. More often than not, art makes us feel, and those feelings can be very powerful. Power, when focused, promotes change, and I can’t escape my belief that change is one of the best parts of the human experience. When I first made the decision to pursue a career in fine art, I knew that I wanted to do something more than just make art—I wanted to make people feel. I try to do that every day through my work. I’m from Orange County, California. Now, I work internationally and love to connect with people and organizations everywhere who are interested in creating beautiful and meaningful things.
