Acts4Youth has a mission to nurture personal, social, and spiritual growth for at-risk youth in Baltimore City Schools through comprehensive mentoring programs. Its vision is to see youth become more whole and thrive. Four programs work together to help students make successful transitions into adult hood. 1. Foundations - every student in grades 4-8 at partner schools meets once a week for a 90 minute class that teaches students about conflict resolution, healthy relationships, team building, emotional/social intelligence, and making a successful transition to high school. Staff conducts restorative practices, which seek to create a culture where everyone feels they belong and work through conflicts peacefully. Staff also work with teachers to incorporate restorative practices into their own relationships with students. 2/3. Game Plan and Shine - gender specific programming that meets after school to establish a strong foundation of faith, share a meal, and build relationships through productive free time. 4. Pathways - an extension of elementary and middle school programs that builds off the non-cognitive skills students have learned through their program participation. Students develop leadership skills to impact their communities and thrive in their futures.. 10th and 11th graders have the opportunity to participate in a paid summer internship program where they develop post-secondary plans, explore vocational possibilities, and implement a process to give back to their communities, bringing the program full circle.
