Community Highlight is a Malawian CBO, founded in May 2015. Community Highlight is based in Domasi, Malawi and operates in four main villages: Nsangeni, Hayo, Namalaka and Chinyangala. Our main focus is education - we run four village schools that are attended by over 200 children aged 3 and above. Alongside this, we run a school feeding programme and various awareness events on topics that are chosen by our community members - often concerning health, sanitation and disease. Since the start of 2017 we have launched a Village Development Act and started further projects including a youth club and a tailoring school. We are unique in the fact that all of our project ideas come directly from community members themselves - we arrange meetings regularly with the people living in our district and find out what they really need assistance with and the resources that need to be provided. Through this mentality and process we can be sure that donations are going exactly where they are needed most and that we are promoting empowerment and self-sufficiency.
