Bear Head Energy
www.bearheadenergy.caBear Head Energy is on track to be the first permitted, lowest cost, and best located green hydrogen and ammonia production, storage, and loading facility in North America. Located in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, along the Strait of Canso, Bear Head will have a capacity of up to 2GW of hydrogen electrolyzers and produce up to 2 million tonnes per year of green ammonia. Already permitted as an LNG export facility, Bear Head has more than US $150 million invested in the engineering, development, and site construction on its 250 acres of land and 68-acre water lot. Our team is working with provincial and federal governments and regulators to amend existing permits for the new project, saving years of work and capital investment. Bear Head has established strong Indigenous relations and already has mutual benefits agreements in place with the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs, in addition to labour agreements with the construction trade unions. Bear Head is committed to being a sustainable project and producing hydrogen with electricity from renewable sources. The company is engaged in discussions to access grid-connected renewable energy as well as future on-shore and off-shore renewable energy to supply power to the facility and ensure the production process is carbon neutral. Bear Head is a wholly owned subsidiary of Buckeye, a leading global energy infrastructure and logistics provider.
