Project Employ
www.projectemploy.nzProject Employ’s vision is to create a community where young people with intellectual or learning disabilities are engaged in meaningful, paid employment in the same way as any other member of society. To achieve this we have opened Flourish Cafe, a training cafe where young adults with intellectual or learning disabilities gain experience and skills, to become work-ready. Many young people with learning disabilities or processing differences, such as autism, Down syndrome, brain injury or GDD, leave school without the soft skills and transferable work skills needed to nail their first job and kick start their careers. People with disabilities or different needs are more than twice as likely to be unemployed than non-disabled people, leading to low self-esteem and a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing. Project Employ aims to change all that, by offering a training programme based in Flourish Cafe, so young people can gain the skills and experience employers are looking for, and then be supported into paid work. We believe marginalised young people with learning disabilities and different needs have skills and talents to offer and can contribute their unique perspective to increase the diversity of our workplaces. Project Employ Ltd. is a registered charity CC59759
