‘Spin-outs Denmark’ is a national, collaborative program across all Danish universities that aims to raise more impact from science through knowledge/technology transfer and sustainable, research-based spin-out companies. The program also aims to build community and dialogue across the entire innovative ecosystem The project is funded by VILLUM FONDEN (The Velux Foundations) and the purpose is to create even more relevant jobs for highly-skilled staff and support the development of a national ecosystem of academic entrepreneurs. Denmark has an untapped potential but is surpassed by comparable European peers when it comes to establishing new companies (spin-outs) and world-class commercialization. To address these challenges, Spin-outs Denmark has defined three main goals of the programme: - To increase the universities' capacity and competencies regarding technology transfer. - To increase the number of researchers who become entrepreneurs. - To build a strong and well-functioning entrepreneurial community.
