How we started? The idea came from a conversation between two friends, one a mum of a son with Autism. She often spoke about the difficulties as a parent of finding the right supports and services. This problem will be more widespread as the new National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) rolls out across Australia. In November 2015 we won the RAC SeedSpark ‘Better WA’ category. Since then a small group of people with the same vision have come together. This group are friends with a disability, parents of children with a disability and those with experience in the disability and tech sectors. Care Collective is an Aussie enterprise based in Perth. As a social enterprise we exist for the benefit of people with disabilities and parents caring for children with disabilities. - We believe that people with disabilities and carers are the experts of their own family’s health and wellbeing. - We understand that peer to peer learning builds capacity of individuals and communities. - We value true choice, so we’ve created an independent space to help people discover local disability services and programs. - We understand that health and wellbeing is more than just the medical, so we connect people with a disability and their families to disability friendly events, Support Workers, social groups and more. - With NDIS rolling out across Australia, making choices has never been more important for people with a disability.
