Muslim Aid Indonesia Field Office (MAI) was established in 2005 in relation to the relief response after the earthquake and tsunami on December 26, 2004 in Aceh by a joint program of Muslim Aid UK and Muslim Aid Australia. Since that time, MAI has been active in widening its activities and covering areas in Indonesia for emergency relief and development programs. Yet, MAI has been contributing to survivors in Aceh, Jogjakarta, Jakarta, West Sumatera and West Nusa Tenggara and helped them to rebuild their economy through sustainable programs. These activities include improving livelihoods, infrastructure development for community basic need such as providing transitional shelters, permanent houses, roads, drainage system, bridge construction, WASH and agriculture and food security. MAI also involves in enhancing local capacity in education sectors, skill development, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, and health care and nutrition. Until 2015 - MAI has completed many projects including DRR-CCA Project in Yogyakarta, Flood Mitigation System funded by MDF, Legal Awareness Raising Campaign and Small Grant Facilities funded by UNDP, and Aceh Economic Development Financing Facilities by MDF.
