WECare Worldwide

www.wecareworldwide.org.uk

WECare was set up by UK vet Dr Janey Lowes in 2014 when she saw the plight of the street dogs while on holiday in Sri Lanka. It is estimated that there are up to 3 million street dogs in Sri Lanka (!). Realising the dogs had everything they need to survive - food, freedom and a safe place to sleep - except access to high standard veterinary care, she couldn't turn her back on them and moved to the island to live her calling. Since 2014, WECare has grown from a one-man-band to a dedicated team of 30 individuals, working together to help, treat and educate. We're a mixed bunch, from all corners of the globe, but there's one thing we have in common; we're absolutely bonkers about dogs!! Together we are a highly skilled team, working our little flip flops off to ensure that the WECare dream one day becomes a reality; living in a world where no animal goes without high standard veterinary care. At WECare, we focus on three main areas - neutering and vaccinations, treatment of illness and injury (which range from skin disease to maggot wounds and serious RTA injuries), and educating the community about the welfare of roaming dogs.
