The foundation of xMotion is inspired by Thurston Adams & Laurent Dunys' belief that the transportation industry is becoming one of the most data-driven industries in the world. For that reason, we cofounded xMotion. Our mission is to reduce the cost of transport and eliminate the risk of vehicle breakdown, through a unique mix of cutting-edge software technologies and traditional automotive science. With our technology, transport companies can increase their profits and better serve their customers. Drivers can enjoy a better and safer ride. Our expertise is based on 14 years of research and development in Vehicle Health Monitoring (from which 26 patents were filed), as well as on 25 years experience in automotive engineering and manufacturing. Through the combination of traditional physics and cutting-edge computer & data science, we’re developing an innovative technology that can predict the remaining useful life (RUL) of critical vehicle systems, without having to add costly sensors. Existing vehicle health indicators such as the check engine light only provide limited information on the cause and severity of failures. As a consequence, similar on-board diagnostics notifications often lead to run-to-fail maintenance cycles which result in costly maintenance events. In the past several years, data science and machine learning techniques have come to an interesting point where, when fed with enough qualitative data, can go beyond the traditional telematics data to generate accurate predictions. With such predictions, we see a world where vehicles become much more reliable, safe and affordable than today.
