Kaiva
www.mykaiva.com“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Pablo Picasso Based in Singapore, at Kaiva, we believe that an online platform can help be the bridge connecting mainstream consumers to artists. Our mission is to showcase unique, home products that celebrates individuality and in the process: · For mainstream consumers to develop greater awareness and appreciation of art and get access to their art pieces · For budding artists to exhibit their work and grow their portfolio while earning a fair compensation Our values are · Be Bold: Create or identify products that are unique. Push creative boundaries regardless of processes or product creation. · Be Respectful: Be mindful about how your words and actions may impact others. · Be You: Everyone interprets art differently, there’s no right and wrong on how a particular art piece relates to you. Similarly to artists, we want you to remain true to your philosophy in your works. Art is undefined, you be you! Why did we create Kaiva? Kaiva’s founding team can be segregated into two groups – 1) the artists who make art their sole livelihood and 2) the self-declared “art-noobs”, who define art as just a gallery display piece which “looks nice” but expensive. The art-noobs in the team noticed a trend where their fellow friends were relying on mass market and online retailers to decorate their homes. While aesthetically pleasing, the products are often mass produced and low in quality. It was then that the artists in the team “enlightened” them on the alternatives – artists can create unique and quality home pieces, catering to each individual’s budget and taste; everyone can own a piece of art at home! From there, the idea of Kaiva was born!
