The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory of Lille – Kampé de Feriet CNRS UMR 9014 was founded the 1rst January 2018 as result of the fusion of two research entities: the “Rotating and Turbulent Flow” team from the Mechanics Laboratory of Lille and the research unity “Flight limits and experimentation” (ELV) from the ONERA Lille. Research in the Laboratory is organized in three main topics: 1. Turbulence: This theme aims to study and model turbulent flows using both experimental and numerical methods with emphasis on inhomogeneity and non-stationarity in wall bounded flows, wakes, jets and several other flow configuration. 2. Rotating flows: This theme is focused on the analysis and the modeling of internal or external flows linked to rotating machines (turbo-machinery, rotors, windmills, tidal generators) in degenerated flow conditions. 3. Flight dynamics in unsteady and non-uniform environments: This theme concerns the development of tools and methods (experimental and analytical) to determine the evolving comportment of aircrafts flying with the slow speed in a perturbed flight space and/or in a non-conventional flight domain.
