We found the name Vapiano within an old Italian proverb ‘Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano’ which means, ‘If you have an easy-going and relaxed approach to life, you live more healthily and longer’. That’s been the Vapiano way of life since the first restaurant opened on 22nd October 2002 in Hamburg, Germany. Two years later, the owners decided to take Vapiano on a world tour and today there are over 150 restaurants in 29 countries on 5 continents – the world just loves Italian food! Pasta, pizzas, antipasti and salads are ordered directly from the chefs at the individual stations in the middle of the Vapiano. The chefs prepare all of the dishes to order in front of the guests. Everyone can have his meal prepared to his own personal preference. Favorite dishes can be created, and then individually refined. The herb garden and the fresh herbs on the tables are not just for decoration, but to offer the special taste that every dish deserves. Every Vapiano all around the world takes care of producing its own food, for Vapiano does not have a central production facility. Those guests who want to enjoy an after-dinner coffee or drink can move from their table to the bar or the comfortable lounge. Thanks to the smart-card payment system, they just pay for their consumption at the desk when they are ready to leave the restaurant.
