The company was established in 1884 in the Swiss town of Liestal by Albert HANdschin and Carl ROnus and since then has stood for luxurious understatement, highest quality, and timeless design. Approximately 85% of fabrics are produced on-site in Austria in the company’s own fabric production facility. Manufacturing takes place at the company’s sewing factory in Portugal. Pieces of embroidery and woven fabric are usually sourced from regional suppliers, while yarns come from Switzerland, Italy, and Austria. All HANRO products are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified. The in-house dyeing and knitting process is STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified. The production site in Austria is also certified in accordance with the newest Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S.) for sustainability. In 1991, HANRO became part of the Austrian Huber Group with its headquarters in Götzis/Vorarlberg.
