Reset Communities and Refugees

www.resetuk.org

Reset is the UK’s Community Sponsorship Learning Hub. Community Sponsorship is a refugee resettlement scheme launched in 2016 enabling ordinary people to sponsor refugee families to come to the UK to rebuild their lives. Sponsors commit to supporting the families throughout their first year in the UK to access English-language tuition, education, healthcare and employment. The scheme was inspired by Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees programme, through which more than 300,000 refugees have been resettled since 1979. Reset’s mission is to ensure that as many refugees as possible are resettled by communities in the UK, and that every community is well-supported throughout this journey. Our work has three main strands: Training & support: We train people to become Community Sponsors and support them to provide the highest-quality support possible to a refugee family. Research & Evaluation: We commission independent research and conduct our own evaluation through our regular Post-Arrival Support Visits with all sponsors and sponsored refugee families. Our research enables us to collect examples of best-practice, which we disseminate through our training. Policy development: We use the knowledge we gain through research and evaluation to suggest improvements to the Community Sponsorship scheme. We work closely with the Home Office to implement those changes. Reset is a small charity with a distributed workforce.
