For 23 years, Personal Fitness Navigators (PFN, our for-profit company) has provided customized fitness and nutrition programs that nurture the mind, body, and soul. In 2017, PFN began working with a group of women at ORW to implement a program inside the prison that supported members to become nationally certified personal trainers. The program was life-changing for both the members and the PFN team. This program helped the PFN team realize the societal value of translating our business and fitness experience into a social venture. This was the birth of Fit to Navigate. Today, we have expanded and refined our initial program to include a total wellness program. We have trained and certified women at ORW who are currently teaching classes and wellness programs to 100-200 members inside the institution. We have begun evaluating the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of all of our participants. Women who have been trained by our graduates have self-reported wellness health changes that have an estimated value of $1.8 million dollars. The women who have rejoined our community have gained employment opportunities within the wellness industry. We have offered ongoing support and mentorship, and to date, that has lead to 100% employment rates and 0% recidivism. Our women earn family-sustainable wages and based on employment and lack of recidivism, our program has added $510K YTD back into the Ohio community.
