ICPSD utilizes a bottom-up approach to development. Departing from traditional methods employed by many large international development orgnizations, we design programs for development based on local communities needs. We approach development at a small scale, local level free of predesigned ideas about what is needed. We believe the key to sustainable development lies in the capable hands of the locals. We recognize that what is good for community A may not be good for community B. Our role is to facilitate comprehensive research, partnering this research with the local people in order to support them in developing innovative approaches to sustainable solutions for their unique problems. By helping to create partnerships with local people, grassroot organizations and policymakers we hope to join them in a communicative infrastructure enabling them with the knowledge and power to build their own sustainable future.
