The EDM Council is a non-profit trade association established by participants in the financial industry to define content standards and document best practices for data management. Our membership consists of over 7,000 professionals from more than 200 firms representing banks, asset managers, data vendors, technology companies, consultants, academia and regulators across the global financial system. The EDM Council is the originator of the Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) – the industry-standard guideline on the practice of data management. The Council is also the developer and steward for the Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) – the standard on meaning about the structure and obligations of financial instruments, pricing, legal entities and financial processes. As a neutral trade association, the EDM Council also advises regulators and market authorities on the data implications of financial regulations.
