The core of our work with water is bore well recharge through rain water harvesting. We partner with water poor farmers to bring a constant supply of water back to their fields. Dried up or poorly producing bore wells can be recharged, using a small feeder pond, with a filtration system sending the water back to the bore well where slits have been cut in the shaft to allow the rainy season run off water to enter into the underlying aquifers. Our recent development - the twin ring method - is a cost effective and quickly implemented way to recharge the bore wells. You can see more about this work on our website at https://srdsindia.org. We also work on industrial, schools, hostels, temples, and residential complexes - rain water harvesting projects - using rooftop rainwater to recharge the bore wells. We support our work with associated programs – bringing education to farmers, as well as support to their wives through our Self Help Groups and micro financing. We are also using an Area Development model to assist village communities towards sustainability and improved lives. Our work is funded through many kind donors - including Deshpande Foundation, Infosys Foundation, Save Indian Farmers, Satya Sai Baba Trust, ICICI Bank, Micrograam, SBI Foundation, Fincare Small Finance Bank and others. To date we have implemented over 2400+ recharge systems in 10 states of India.
