For people who want to shine again, Dr Laura Comrie is an established Cape Town psychiatrist who empowers you to reach your full potential, by providing you with the tools to facilitate change and help you embrace life. Dr Laura Comrie studied Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town. Following her internship and community service in both KZN and Mpumpalanga, she then worked as a General Practitioner (GP) in Johannesburg. During her training and time as a GP, Dr Laura Comrie developed a keen interest in mental healthcare, driven mostly by the significant improvements she witnessed in patient well-being derived from proper treatment. It was at this time that she enrolled as a medical officer and then a registrar at Tara Hospital, Johannesburg. Dr Laura Comrie completed her post-graduate training in Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town where she graduated as a psychiatrist (FCPsych SA) in 2013. Following her studies, Dr Laura Comrie explored a variety of interests – spending time at the Maternal Mental Health Clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital, working on a Dementia research investigation as well as consulting at a Men’s Health Facility (Health4Men). She started her private practice in 2014.
