The Swiss Gemmological Institute, part of the Swiss Foundation for the Research of Gemstones (SSEF: Schweizerische Stiftung für Edelstein-Forschung) was founded by trade organisations (UBOS: Union de la Bijouterie et Orfèvrerie Suisse) in 1972 and works independently on a scientific basis. We are one of the world's leading gem labs, testing exceptional coloured gemstones, diamonds and natural pearls on a daily basis. We provide a range of gemmological courses ranging from introductory to scientific level. All our courses are taught by leading gemmologists, with a focus on practical gemmology and small groups of students.
