Velvet Cloud is a specialist sheep dairy product business set up in 2015. The product range which is available in both retail and food service includes sheep’s milk, cheese and yogurt sold under the Velvet Cloud brand. The milk supply comes from the farm owned by the directors Aisling and Michael Flanagan, which was the first and is still the only grass fed sheep dairy farm in Ireland producing milk on a year round basis. The market opportunity has been driven by: Intolerances real or self-diagnosed which are increasing. The increasing awareness of the processed nature of plant based dairy alternatives. The increasing back lash against foods with added sugar. The increasing demand for high protein foods and the increasing demand for natural yogurt. In the three years since we’ve begun trading we have achieved significant sales growth, brand awareness and endorsements from opinion leaders in our target markets. In Ireland our products are now on sale in over 130 retail outlets many of whom are considered leaders in their sector, and we have recently secured a listing with a premium specialty retailer in London. Uniquely within the yogurt category we have a significant food service business our products feature on the menus of five Michelin star restaurants and on the menus of many more leaders in the high-end Irish restaurant sector.
