Mura Connect is a specialist recruitment, IT project management and Indigenous cultural consultancy whose team has more than 25 years’ experience working with high‐performing, commercial companies in both the public and private sectors. Mura Connect is a proudly Indigenous owned and run business and one of Australia’s only companies established solely to drive social benefit through good business practice. Founders Phil Ahmat, Anthony Singh and Ash Kumar came together over their collective passion to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people whilst changing the perceptions of what can be achieved by an Indigenous business. Off the back of our corporate engagements our goal is to generate opportunities for current and future generations that will help to create a workforce of skilled Indigenous professionals within the ICT sector. We are driven by the vision that one day soon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will be hired for jobs not just because of their heritage, but because they are the best candidates. Many Indigenous children are raised to believe their career options are limited to entry‐level positions or hard to get roles such as sports stars, actors and entertainers. We are here to change that. By providing customised and high‐quality recruitment, IT project management and cultural consultancy solutions to our clients, we are able to give back to Indigenous communities through education and professional development. We are dedicated to driving social change and showing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that they can be anything a their mind to. The word Mura is from the Kalaw Lagaw Ya language of the western Torres Strait. It means “to bring people together and work together for a common cause”, which is how we do business.
