engineering.catholic.edu

The engineering program was established in 1896, soon after the founding of The Catholic University of America. The School of Engineering was formally established in 1930 and was shortly thereafter renamed the School of Engineering and Architecture. Today, the School of Engineering offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in five academic programs as well as master's degrees in engineering management and materials science and engineering. The school prides itself on being a small, Catholic engineering school that provides quality education with a personal touch. Students can expect close interaction with faculty who are dedicated to teaching and research. All members of the full-time faculty hold doctoral degrees and conduct programs of research that support the education mission of the school while advancing the frontiers of engineering knowledge. Our location in Washington, D.C. provides a wealth of opportunities for exploration, education, collaboration, and recreation. The School of Engineering building features several state-of-the-art computer laboratories and five smart technology classrooms to support innovative teaching. Catholic University has been ranked among the most "wired" university campuses by The Princeton Review and Forbes Magazine. The School of Engineering at Catholic University was one of the first schools in the nation to be approved by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) as a NAE Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP) School. Ours is the only GCSP school in the Washington Metropolitan area. Catholic University's School of Engineering is distinguished by its teaching and research excellence, ethical character development, emphasis on service, and location in the capital of the United States of America.
