NCREP

NCREP - Consultancy on Rehabilitation of Built Heritage, Ltd., is a consultancy and design office dealing with the conservation and rehabilitation of existing constructions. Among the several services provided, which address traditional construction typologies such as masonry and timber constructions, NCREP also provides expertise on reinforced concrete and steel structures. When dealing with existing constructions, NCREP’s approach follows a so-called integrated procedure based on a detailed study of the construction, making use of traditional and modern inspection techniques, supported by strong validation tools for the correct assessment of its behaviour. In this approach, if rehabilitation or strengthening interventions are required, these should be as minimal as possible in order to reduce their impact on the existing construction, thus respecting the history and heritage values as acknowledged by international recommendations for conservation and rehabilitation of structures. Another important aspect of NCREP is its strong collaboration with the Laboratory of Earthquake and Structural Engineering (LESE, FEUP) which provides extensive expertise on field and laboratory experimental tests that can be carried out in order to increase the level of knowledge of the structure under analysis for minimal interventions, as well as on the possibility of developing more complex numerical simulation studies.
