The Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), a component of the Defense Human Resource Activity (DHRA/DoD), helps service members pursue their educational goals, earn degrees and certifications, and prepare for transition to the civilian workforce. Established in 1974, DANTES creates, directs, and markets voluntary education programs and services designed to enrich the academic and career development of service members across the Department of Defense and Coast Guard, to include their family members. By fostering strategic partnerships, DANTES provides program and contract management activities that enable nearly 300,000 service members to prepare for military advancement, officer accession programs, postsecondary degree completion and civilian career transition each year.
