Trenton Atelier

www.trentonatelier.org

The Trenton Atelier is a collaboration of artists interested in cultivating a community engaged in experiential learning, dedicated to the environment and committed to explore, experiment and exhibit. We create artwork and functional objects from predominately recycled materials. It has been shown that the Arts can pave the way for revitalization, and Trenton is a prime location for such an effort. The Trenton Atelier has the means and vision to help transform Trenton into an arts hub. We are working toward transforming Building 114 of the Roebling Complex, on 13 Clark Street in Trenton, NJ into the Trenton Atelier creativity complex. The 60,000 square foot, former Roebling Wire distribution warehouse located at 13 Clark Street is the proposed home of an expanded Trenton Atelier. Reclaiming the building using predominantly recycled materials and environmentally sensitive construction techniques would highlight the possibilities for other like buildings in the area. Pete Abrams has been working with wire rope since 1992, and it seems fitting that a once thriving wire rope distribution warehouse, be returned to a family of artists whom make use of its old product. For a product to come full circle is not only unique, but also environmentally responsible and innovative.
