Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force
www.lofsfire.comThe Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force, Inc. was incorporated in 1969. Originally formed as a “bucket brigade”, volunteers responded to fires in their own vehicles with little or no fire fighting equipment. After many years of flipping pancakes and hosting the annual “Fireman’s Ball”, the department began to build a fleet of fire fighting apparatus. Today the department boasts one of the most modern fleets of apparatus in the region. As the Lakes of the Four Seasons Community rapidly grew, support for the Fire Force did as well. In 1986, the West Porter Township Fire Protection District was formed to ensure continued financial support. In the early 1990’s the Fire Force began providing first response to ambulance calls with a Basic Life Support Non-Transport unit. Not long after this addition to our services, the area surrounding the Lakes of the Four Seasons Community also had a surge in growth, prompting the fire department to set sights on reducing ambulance response time to our area while providing quality Emergency Medical Services. On January 1, 1999, the Fire Force received certification as an Advanced Life Support provider and began providing Emergency 911 ambulance service to the residents of Winfield Township and the newly created Town of Winfield in Lake County, the West Porter Township Fire Protection District in Porter County and to the Lakes of the Four Seasons community which is located in both counties. The ambulance service is currently staffed around the clock with part-time personnel from within the Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force and supplemented with part-time personnel from neighboring Fire and EMS departments.
