Global Womens Narratives Project

www.gwnpchapters.com

The Global Women's Narratives Project was launched by The Levan Institute for Humanities and Ethics at the University of Southern California, in partnership with the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights, and the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs. The core concept of the project is to interview women one-on-one and make available the personal narratives of lived experiences of women around the world. We aim to give students the opportunity and incentive to spend one hour with a woman to better understand her joys and challenges and what is potentially unique from men in the context of global ethical inquiry. The hope is that this shared interview and reflection will inform and help connect education and research to issues specific to the practical experiences of women in their daily lives. The narratives will be gathered by undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty both at and around USC, and for those traveling to urban and rural settings as part of foreign study programs or overseas courses. The initial focus of the project is women's experiences in conflict zones, but with plans to expand to include other areas of focus like education and religion.
