The Victoria Brain Injury Society provides support, education and advocacy to people on Southern Vancouver Island with acquired brain injuries, their families and friends to enable them to move toward emotional, economic and social self-reliance. Our basic philosophical underpinnings are rooted in the idea of maximum independence with minimum professional supports. Our experience has taught us that most people want to continue to be a part of their community following injury. We believe every individual is due respectful support that begins with the recognition that individuals with disabilities are not abnormal or deficient but, instead, reflect the normal diversity of the human community.
