Written Medicine is a health technology and terminology company founded in 2012 on the principles of increasing patient access to medical information in an accessible format and reducing health inequalities. The software addresses unmet clinical need of supplying bilingual medication information to patients who speak English as a second language and improved quality of English phrases mapped to illustrations (pictograms). Written Medicine is used by healthcare professionals to print medication information, instructions and warnings drawn from a dataset of 3,500 phrases, in 15 different languages and over 500 pictograms. The accessible information is supporting patients to take ownership of their treatment; giving them a better understanding of how to take their prescribed medication. The solution is helping to reduce errors, improve medication adherence, enhance patient safety, experience and independence. Written Medicine can be accessed via a stand-alone cloud-based platform or used through an API integration.
