We believe in a world without poverty and we believe the best way to achieve this is by placing resources directly in the hands of local leaders to innovate and create change in their own communities. This model is effective because local leaders have a deep understanding of the local context of poverty in their peoples’ lives and well-established relationships in the community. Just Peoples currently backs 16 local charity leaders across Asia, Africa and Mexico and invites philanthropists, socially minded business owners and generous individuals to connect with them directly and explore funding their projects. Each grassroots project needs between $500 and $50,000 to make it a reality and has been designed to tackle poverty through providing education, healthcare, access to clean water, economic or women’s empowerment. By choosing to support local leaders to deliver their projects directly, overseas aid goes where it can make the most impact, delivering locally appropriate and sustainable solutions.
