Obsidian Advanced Manufacturing LLC
www.obsidianam.netObsidian’s completely new 3D printing process precisely deposits materials in a dense jet of atomic particles. We do not use powders and our process works without melting materials. Our core innovation is a new fabrication process protected by patents and trade secrets. We focus on precision manufacturing applications. We will offer production-grade printers to manufacturers fabricating high value components for advanced systems. No larger than an office desk, Obsidian printers can operate in a standard shop environment. The total cost of ownership is 95% lower than current products. Our Third Generation (3G) Obsidian 3D printer, with direct CAD input, is targeted for release in 2019. It works with a wide variety of inputs including aluminum, copper, and stainless-steel. Customers do not need expensive add-on equipment for powder-handling, sintering ovens, HIPping, or other post-processing. Our Results We deliver high-grade output with properties on a par with forged materials. We do this in a single-step scalable approach without the need for densification by using secondary processes. Our output has exceptional accuracy—exacting dimensions across complex geometries—and superior metallurgical properties, including high electrical and thermal conductivity. Inputs We use stock inputs, typically AMS-grade wire and rod stock at 1/20th to 1/80th the cost of AM powders. We also embrace open materials. We have no proprietary consumables and do not require customers to purchase material licenses.
