Junior League of Cedar Rapids is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Junior League has been a presence in the greater Cedar Rapids community since its founding in 1934. For 83 years, the organization has worked to improve the lives of women and children in the community. WHAT WE DO Our Bridging the G.A.P. (Guide. Advocate. Provide.) project (2011-present) addresses foster care in three ways: • Guide: JLCR works with foster youth to develop life skills and personal connections • Advocate: JLCR partners with local groups to be a voice for those who may not otherwise be heard within the foster care system • Provide: JLCR gives away suitcases that help young adults live on their own, and allow youth to move with dignity within the foster care system WHAT WE’VE DONE Junior League of Cedar Rapids has been a key part of many Cedar Rapids developments: • Butterfly Kisses • Science Station • Old MacDonald’s Farm at Bever Park • Waypoint/Madge Phillips Center • Playtime Poppy • Leadership for Five Seasons DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION JLCR welcomes all women who value our Mission.
