CmF - Centre for microFinance
www.cmfraj.orgThe Centre for microFinance (CmF) was seeded in 2007 as a state-level resource organization to catalyze the growth of the community-led microfinance (women’s Self-Help Group model) sector in Rajasthan. Over the last 14 years, it has been CmF’s constant endeavor to adapt and expand its role and functions in keeping with the evolving needs and aspirations of the communities it works with and the macro-environment comprising of government policy and programs. KEY INITIATIVES: During 2007-2012 - CmF worked mainly on providing technical and capacity-building support to a number of stakeholders in the microfinance sector namely, banks, development partners of the Tata Trusts’ Sakh-Se-Vikas (SSV) initiative, government departments, and SHG federations. Enabling credit linkage from banks, development of quality training resources, and strengthening institutional processes in SHGs and federations were the key focus of CmF during this period. As the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) rolled out in the state, CmF enabled the SSV partners and federations to partner with the program and leverage resources for enhanced credit to SHG members. From 2013 onwards - CmF began developing livelihood programs for SHG members. The SSV partners and CmF successfully leveraged funds from the Government of India under the Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP) to augment productivity and incomes from agriculture and dairy. Capacity building and knowledge partnership of CmF & Tata Trusts with the state government in the MPOWER Project helped scale up CmF’s concept of cluster-based livelihood development. Since 2015 - CmF has expanded its domain to multi-thematic implementation in 3 blocks of South Rajasthan. The ‘Transformation Initiative’ program is aimed at impacting the quality of life indicators of tribal households in tribal villages through the layering of education, nutrition, wash, and skilling programs with the microfinance and livelihood work of CmF and partners.
