David L. Hoyt Education Foundation
www.davidlhoytfoundation.orgWe provide, support, and encourage play-based and collaborative learning. We recognize the need to cultivate and foster education, community, and responsible citizenship. We create accessible experiences and related curricula that engage learners with fun and interactive games and puzzles. The foundation values teamwork, fun, innovation, critical thinking, leadership, empathy, creativity, and literacy. The DLHEF provides programming to Chicago Public Schools through our partnership with Communities in Schools. Our 90-minute Giant Games Programs allow us to bring free of charge programs to schools like Lee School, Scott Joplin, Horace Mann Elementary, and more! If you are interested in a 90-minutes introductory program, contact Ashley Elsmo for more information. We also deliver programming and special events to Chicago Public Libraries during Rahm's Readers Summer Learning Challenge and throughout the year. Chicago Public Library programs serve a wide population of Chicago families and children and are paid for in part by the Chicago Public Library Foundation. In 2017, the DLHEF helped the Chicago Public Library's Children's Services Department set a Guinness World Record with a 1600 square foot GIANT Word Winder game! In addition to programming for schools and libraries, we are trying to leave a mark on our built environment too, through our Word Play Way projects. Look for Word Play Way in Douglas Park in Spring of 2019. Word Play Way can be customized to your needs. If you are interested in painting a giant word search on a sidewalk on your school's property, or in your neighborhood, get in touch with us! We would be thrilled to partner with you on a project. And Lastly, the DLHEF is developing curricula for David L. Hoyt's game along with certified educators. Teacher Manuals and Students Workbooks to help facilitate educational play with GIANT Math Winder and GIANT Word Winder will be available soon for download.
