High Yield Conversion of Ethanol into Jet Fuel, Diesel Fuel, and Gasoline Vertimass LCC is based in Irvine, California and has the mission to develop and widely license breakthrough technologies that substantially expand the use of sustainable transportation fuels that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy security and domestic economies. Commercialization will lead to the widespread use of proprietary Vertimass technology for low cost production of sustainable transportation fuels that can overcome the blend wall that currently impedes expansion of sustainable fuels production and open up new large fuel markets for aircraft and heavy duty vehicles from multiple sources of biomass. Vertimass technology was originated at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where scientists discovered novel catalysts that convert a wide range of alcohols into various hydrocarbon blend stocks that compatible with existing gasoline, diesel and jet engines without modifications. Additionally this process can produce renewable chemicals including benzene, toluene, and xylenes (BTX). Vertimass technology offers a new pathway for biomass-derived renewable fuels that lower greenhouse gas emissions and decrease U.S. reliance on foreign sources of oil.
