More than half of GB households are now able to enjoy the benefits of smart electricity and gas metering. New services such as smart prepay and off-peak tariffs, and real-time information at our fingertips to help control and reduce energy costs. Energy suppliers are installing over 250,000 new smart meters every month, and the goal is to complete the rollout by 2025. Alt HAN Co is an energy sector initiative to remove a technical blocker to this goal that would otherwise exclude over 700,000 households because of network range limitations within buildings. Alt HAN Co’s structure is unique – designed to enable all energy suppliers to work co-operatively to find and deliver a common solution for all. Our device solutions integrate seamlessly into the smart rollout plans of our energy supplier members. The solution has gone live as planned in January 2023 in a Safe Launch phase, and is set for mass rollout from mid-2023 onwards.
