STHLMNYC is a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange towards an architecture that is adaptive to uncertainties of the future. For our increasingly vulnerable cities to be sustainable its architecture needs the capability to adapt to unforeseen future events and developments. STHLMNYC, in collaboration with the AIA NY Chapter and the Swedish Association of Archtitects, brings specialist from over the world together in a seminar series alternating between Stockholm and New York City. The outcome of a collaboration between Stockholm and New York City will lead to new visions as they appear to be each other’s perfect opposites and supplements, sharing the same ambitions. The active collaboration of participating architects, urban planners and relating professions, with input and support from invited specialist, provides for a wide variety of ideas and visions that will trigger a new critical thinking in architecture. The STHLMNYC seminars’ overall theme is Collaboration for Adaptation, Designing for Future Uncertainties and will consist of conversations, debates and workshops focusing on the urban environment of tomorrow. Every seminar will have a different focus and study area informed by the overall theme. These focus areas vary, but always relate to the overall theme; they can relate to topics such as transportation, socio-economic movements, spatial efficiency and climate change adaptation. The seminar’s explorations aim to be adventures and push the envelope in architectural thinking. Join us to shape the future!
