The Institute of Intelligent Systems for Automation (ISSIA) was founded on April 2002, as a consequence of the national reorganization of CNR. Principal seat in Bari: it corresponds to the Institute for Image and Signal Processing (IESI). During years this institute had strengthen its knowledge about some research subjects based on fundamental principles of computer science, physics and cybernetics, in the fields of digital processing of signals and images. Research in this field had revolutionized the modalities to approach signal and image analysis, allowing quantitative description of complex physical phenomena.
