www.fanassociation.orgThe Fan Association of North America (FANA) is an organization for anyone interested in the study, conservation, acquisition, and identification of vintage, collectible, and antique hand fans. New members are always welcome. We have individual and institutional members from nearly every state in the United States, as well as from Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan. FANA was organized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity (Fan Association of North America, Inc.) in 1983 as an association devoted to the promotion, study, conservation and collection of fans. Research, education and exhibition of fans are encouraged to serve individuals, the public, museums, and organizations with similar interests. The mission statement defines the FANA purpose as educational and charitable. To support those efforts FANA goals are to: Promote appreciation of fans as historical/societal artifacts and art objects Support fan research Advise members of current matters Guide and assist in fan collecting Hold annual conferences to educate and provide interaction Collaborate with museums to encourage fan exhibition and education Offer advice on fan conservation and repair Enhance communication and companionship among fan fanciers FANA is organized FANA offers an opportunity to meet other collectors who are just as interested in fans as you are. Together we can share information on the fascinating aspects of fan collecting and study. Our annual meeting, called the Assemblage, is held in a different location every year. Highlights of our Assemblages include Members’ Fan Exhibits, the Members’ Fan Sale, and a Fan Auction, along with visits to area museums to see their fan collections.
