Founded in 1950 as Suburban Recreation Association, Senior Community Services adopted its current name and focus on older adults in 1981. Today, the agency has become one of Minnesota’s top nonprofits in the field of aging. We provide various programs and services in many communities in Carver, Hennepin, Scott, Sherburne and Wright counties. ► Household & Outdoor Maintenance Program (HOME) Provides affordable services including personal technology support & training, housekeeping, minor home repairs, painting projects, home safety checks, lawn mowing, and snow removal. ► Caregiver Support Licensed social workers provide coaching & consultation, family meeting facilitation, free support groups and resource assistance. We also developed CareNextion.org, a free, secure online tool (and app) that provides care teams of families and friends with centralized communication, including task scheduling & assignment, journaling, and local resources.. ► Senior Outreach Licensed social workers help older adults identify strengths and needs, connect with trusted, affordable resources, complete program applications, and navigate life changes. ► Medicare Partners A statewide program for lower-income beneficiaries that helps bridge financial gaps left by Original Medicare benefits. ► Senior Centers Our affiliated centers offer a variety of intellectual, social and physical programs to help older adults stay active, healthy, and engaged in their communities.
